Hy-Vee: Downtown Des Moines
The project involves the construction of a new 108,000 square foot mixed use building along with a parking structure located at 420 Court Avenue in Des Moines. The project is in a highly distressed census tract with a 33.1% poverty rate and is also considered to be a “food desert”. The total project cost is anticipated to be $29.96 million.
The project will be anchored by an approximately 35,000 square foot full service Hy-Vee store. Along with groceries the services to be provided will include catering, floral, pharmacy, bakery, banking services, postal services, nutrition/wellness education, and potentially grocery delivery.
The space will also include a Hy-Vee Market Grille which will be a sit-down full service casual family restaurant. The restaurant will also include a second floor outdoor patio that could provide café seating as well
The second through fourth floors will include 82 market-rate efficiency one and two bedroom apartments. There will be a range of design options and layouts in the apartments with availability to a rooftop lounge planned for the residents. There will also be 75 below grade covered parking stalls available to the residents.
