The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) was created by Congress to address the lack of capital available to business and community development ventures in federally defined tracts throughout the country.
The New Markets Tax Credit was the piece, I believe, that got us over the top as far as getting the project underway.
Project: Business expansion resulting in 100+ new jobs
We had no idea what New Markets Tax Credits were, how they worked and the incredible complex nature of it. They held our hands throughout the whole process and they still are.
Project: Des Moines Social Club resulting in 300,000 people annually participating in programs in this community social centerpiece.
The renovation of the Park Inn Hotel , more than anything else we have done, has transformed our community, and provided a new identity for Mason City as an architecture destination.
Project: Frank Lloyd Wright designed Park Inn Hotel Renovation – International acclaim and increase in domestic and international visitors and nearly full capacity year-around.
The New Markets Tax Credit allocation, closed the gap in funding and allowed us to do the project. Without it, the project wouldn’t have happened.
Project: Construction of 76 market-rate apartments to accommodate housing shortage and support workforce recruitment.
